New Changing Room
Friday 31st July 2009
Now that the new Next Steppers have started, the current dsabled changing room is in high demand, and so we have decided that a second changing room is needed. Space in the building is limited, and so we have have come up with a 'cunning plan'; we will move all the office and administrative functions out into the current foyer, and will then convert the old office.
Yorkshire Water have very kindly donated desks and filing and so we will be setting up a proper reception area where Helen and Jo will sit.
But this change is not just a case of moving desks and filing cabinets - we need to move power points, datacomm points, and telephone points, So Chris Rhodes Electrical will be coming in the do major rewiring of the whole floor - more power points, uprated power to the kitchen for the new ovens, better datacomm access and so on. They will attempt to do the bulk of the work 'outside normal hours', coming in through weekend and starting at 7:00am, so that noise and other disruption is kept to an absolute minimum - we are very grateful for their flexibility on this.
Once the office is moved, then we will be able to make the changes to the office - again this will mean clearing out and making safe all the old wiring before putting in a new toilet and washbasin (with thermostatic controls to avoid any possibility of scalding), the necessary hand-rail supports for DDA Compliance, a ceiling-mounted hoist, a new changing bed, new wall tiles and flooring, opaque glass in the window, and then re-hanging the door to open outwards.
Agoin we are trying the schedule the work to minimise any impact on Next Steppers, but inevitably there will be some noise and disruption for which we apologise.
