I have joined the Next Step Trust for my 2nd Year community placement from Huddersfield University as part of my police studies. The placement is in connection with my police training period with the West Yorkshire Police.

The Aim of this placement is to brighten my knowledge of dealing with members of the public who have a disability whether it is mental or physical. I have enjoyed my time here with the Next Steppers where I have been involved in activities such as, Cooking, Swimming, Arts and Crafts, Bowling and also working on the computers. Through these experiences I have learnt a little bit of sign language but more importantly my communication skills have developed, this experience will only help me in my career within the police force.

Also whilst on my placement I have had the honour of meeting and working with extraordinary individuals. The variety in personalities makes the Next Step Trust community centre a very enjoyable place to come and visit. I have been welcomed with open arms and smiling faces from both staff and members. I will be popping back from time to time to see how my new friends are getting on and if I ever feel like a change in career I know the Next Step Trust could be the way forward.

I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all those I have worked with and wish you all the best in the future.

Again a BIG THANK YOU
