My time at the Next Step Trust has been very helpful for me both from a personal and a professional perspective. I have been given the opportunity to work with people with a wide variety of needs and requirements which I feel has increased my knowledge of these needs and requirements, as well as allowing me to both acquire new skills and improve existing skills. As an example of this, I would say that my ability to communicate with people with different levels of communication skills has greatly improved.
My awareness of the complex requirements of some of the people attending the Trust has also grown immeasurably. I feel that the experience has been invaluable, especially given the open and caring nature of the staff who have made me feel very welcome and comfortable in all the circumstances in which I have found myself.
From a professional viewpoint I think that should I find myself dealing with a person with either mental or physical needs, I will be far more capable of dealing with them as a result of my time here.
