Three Peaks Challenge

On the 30th of April a group of intrepid walkers from the Next Step Trust took on the challenge of theYorkshire Three Peaks to raise valuable funds for a new mini bus. The group comprised of staff, one Next Stepper, parents and volunteers.

After spending the night at 'base camp' in Horton in Ribblesdale and a breakfast of Kendal Mint Cake (!), the group had an early start and headed for the hills. The first challenge was Pen-y-Ghent , followed by Whernside , and then Ingleborough.

Some people chose to do one or two of the Peaks, with fantastic efforts from everyone, whilst the majority of the group took on the 24.5 mile challenge of all three. At times the steep inclines and the hurricane force winds made for very difficult conditions, but with every determination the challenge was most certainly met.

This was an outstanding achievement for everyone involved, especially for our very own Next Stepper Matthew Naylor who completed the whole
24.5 mile walk.

Well done to everyone, and thank you to all who supported and sponsored this amazing event.

Take a look at the photographs and we will shortly be posting a final total for the amount raised, so watch this space.

Our thanks go to Next Step support worker Michelle Diamond who organised and took part in the event. Michelle also issued everyone with certificates to acknowledge their achievements.
